Robin John Longstride, known as 'John Long' to his shipmates, is a pirate and natural born leader of a group of cutthroat treasure hunters. He has a very persuasive way with his words, and is not shy of knocking a few heads together to resolve any differences between the crew. John Long likes to cook meals for the crew, and he is a fair hand at it.
He is tall and broad, with a fast gait, that attests his name. He has rugged features, dark hair, and a pet parrot, named Captain Flint, after Robert Louis Stevenson's famous novel. If he'd had a wooden leg, he would have been a ringer for Long John Silver. Some of his mates think he must be related, and sometimes cuss him as 'Silver,' behind his back.
'Longstride' has been thinking of Blackbeard's buried treasure for many a year. When his snitch, William Gray, tells him about the unfolding events in the Caribbean, he is convinced they are onto something big.
As
with William Gray, John Long is unaware of the extraordinary skills of John
Storm or his ship, the Elizabeth
Swann, because that information was classified by President Lincoln
Truman, for his eyes only.
